Today I want to show you something very special. What makes it so special you ask? Well, for one, it took me many months to complete it and is probably the single most elaborate prop replica I’ve ever done. And the biggest one in terms of size and weight for sure. Also, it’s got a few surprises up its sleeve which I think you will like. Yes, you’ve read about it here before and yes, you might have seen me work on it on Twitter if you follow me there. Prepare yourself for lots of text and quite a lot of pictures, too! [More…]

Ah, Starfleet cases. They come in all colors and shapes and I love all of them! Especially the ones that were used by the engineering staff to carry around their great little tools and instruments. But that’s not the only use for them, of course. They’re also very useful to store PADDs for example. And that’s exactly what Captain Picard uses his briefcase for in the TNG-Episode “Starship Mine” (6×18) when he leaves the ship, which is due for a Baryon sweep that requires a complete evacuation. To absent friends… To family.
These are the words that Jean-Luc Picard spoke in the end of “Star Trek: Nemesis” after Data had sacrificed himself to rescue the Captain from the exploding Romulan vessel Scimitar. And it was that occasion, that brought all of Datas shipmates, friends and – in a sense – family together to honor him and taste Chateau Picard, the wine that Picard’s Brother [More…]

Raktajino (Klingon coffee) is one of the most popular drinks aboard the space station Deep Space Nine. Much like “normal” coffee, it can be ordered in several variants, such as: Hot, iced, black, double sweet, with milk etc. It however always comes in the same futuristic, very sturdy looking purple colored mug. [More…]

Klingon coffee (Raktajino) is available all over the station Deep Space Nine. It can not only be ordered in Quarks, but also in the Replimat for example, which is basically a large public replicator. But of course the Replimat needs to have its own type of coffee mug to give the audience a visible hint as to where the characters are on the station and to keep it recognizable. [More…]

“Tea, Earl Grey, hot!” is one of the most best known phrases of the entire Star Trek universe. Captain Picard usually uses these words to order his favourite beverage from the replicator. And he usually gets the dark liquid in a special type of tea cup, which I have now added to my collection. [More…]

Ten Forward – the bar/lounge area on the Enterprise-D – sure is a real fountain of diversity when it comes to glass vessels and beverage containers. One of the more recognizable ones started out as a candle holder and quickly got turned into a drinking glass by the set decorators of TNG. [More…]

One of the most popular episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series – “The Trouble with Tribbles” – evolves around small, hairy, pleasant and purry animals called Tribbles which are however also very hungry and very eager to reproduce themselves. After Lt. Uhura buys one of them from the bartender of Station K-7 and brings it to the Enterprise, it creates a chaos by procreating so rapidly that it doesn’t take long for the Enterprise to be filled with small furry creatures. [More…]

One of my favourite characters from “Star Trek: Voyager” is the holographic Doctor. Just as Spock, Data and Odo before him, he as an artificial intelligence represents the outsider among humans, who wishes to be treated with respect and as an equal being. He strives to become more than his original programming and tries to become as human as possible. [More…]

They’re small but powerful – Starfleet Comm badges. They not only decorate uniforms and show that the owner is an officer with the respective training, but they are also full of high-tech.
Once activated, these small devices enable the user to communicate with any other crew memeber who is also equipped with a smiliar badge. While the activation is done by a simple tap, everything else works through a highly sophisticated [More…]
